The topic of insurance and employee benefits can often be confusing and even a bit frightening. After years of working with clients across the country in all industries and market sizes, from individuals to groups with 1000+ employees, we have made it our mission to bring the most cost-effective and innovative solutions to our clients.
Our Story
Our journey is rooted in the legacy of hard work and taking care of people. For generations, the Theis family has held an entrepreneurial spirit in farming and construction. Although these businesses grew from small beginnings, they proved the commitment and dedication that it takes to provide for a family and community when it all comes down to the business being profitable. These generations laid the foundation for Jerry Theis to enter the insurance industry and take a risk on himself like many in the family before him. This start was in the Midwest but led to business in the Rocky Mountain region, the Northeast, and back to the west, ultimately settling in Montana.
Over the years, experience grew from catastrophic insurance plans being offered to individuals across the kitchen table and into something much bigger. In 1978, a new opportunity entered the group insurance market and IRS Section 125 now made it possible for employers to make pre-tax deductions for employee insurance premiums for certain types of coverage. This allowed the team to help businesses improve their benefit offerings and save tax dollars in the process creating a great environment for strengthening the employer/employee relationship.
As medical insurance plans began to evolve, the need for Ancillary/Voluntary products became even more necessary. Enter the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010. This transformed the health insurance market as we know it and brought with it many questions. One thing remained, employers and their employees needed a trusted advisor now more than ever before to help guide them through the changes and new requirements. Fast forward to today and we now see employers using many options to help mitigate their benefits cost while still maintaining a strong offering for their employees.
Although Beartooth Benefit Advisors is young by name, its experience and roots run deep in the benefits industry. We are excited to continue this legacy by committing to truly HEARING what the small business needs and making our best effort to deliver with innovative solutions.
